Add, modify, or delete nameservers

The Use As Name Servers section of the domain's page allows you to add, modify, or delete your own nameservers.

Adding a nameserver

To add a nameserver

  1. In the Domains section of the Control Panel, in the text field, enter all or part of the domain name or the admin email for which you want to search, and then click Search. You can use wildcard characters to represent part of the name.
  2. Click a domain name to view information for that domain.
  3. In the Use As Name Servers section, click Edit.
  4. In the Nameserver Hostname field, enter a subdomain name for the nameserver, for example, ns1.
  5. In the IP Address fields, enter the IP address of the nameserver.
    Note: You can specify an IPv4 address, an IPv6 address, or both.
  6. Click the plus sign (+) in the Action column.
  7. To add another nameserver, repeat steps 4 to 6.

Modifying a nameserver

To modify a nameserver

  1. In the Domains section of the Control Panel, in the text field, enter all or part of the domain name or the admin email for which you want to search, and then click Search. You can use wildcard characters to represent part of the name.
  2. Click a domain name to view information for that domain.
  3. In the Use As Name Servers section, click Edit.
  4. Beside the nameservers that you want to modify, click Edit.
  5. Make the required changes to any of the fields, and then click Save.

Deleting a nameserver

Note: You cannot delete nameservers that are in use.

To delete a nameserver

  1. In the Domains section of the Control Panel, in the text field, enter all or part of the domain name or the admin email for which you want to search, and then click Search. You can use wildcard characters to represent part of the name.
  2. Click a domain name to view information for that domain.
  3. In the Use As Name Servers section, click Edit.
  4. Beside the nameserver that you want to delete, click the x.
    A confirmation dialog asks you to confirm that you want to delete the nameserver entry.
  5. Click OK to delete the nameserver.
