CalDAV and CardDAV Synchronization with Hosted Email

Hosted email accounts have the ability to synchronize calendars and contacts via CalDAV and CardDAV.

CalDAV synchronizes calendar data across different devices and is available through your hosted email account. It utilizes Apple’s iCalendar format and is compatible with Android, Gmail, Mac OS X, iOS 5+, Outlook, and Thunderbird. Full functionality, such as editing, RSVP, and invites, will be coming soon.

CardDAV synchronizes contact data across different devices and is also available through your hosted email account. It is compatible with Android, Gmail, Mac OS X, iOS 5+, Outlook, Thunderbird, and other platforms. Similar to exporting/importing of vCards, this functionality synchronizes all your contact data including individual contacts and groups.

Alternative Hostnames

When you configure CalDAV or CardDAV, you can use your own domain name in the URL or you can use the alternative hostname for your email cluster.

  • Cluster A alternate hostname:  emailhome.com
  • Cluster B alternate hostname:  mailconfig.net

If you use these alternate hostnames to make sure to enter full URLs during set up. For example, use https://mail.emailhome.com rather than mail.emailhome.com. This is required because of the SSL certificate.

Here are examples of what your URLs will look like using the alternative hostnames:

To check which cluster your email is hosted on:

  1. Log in to the control panel.
  2. Go to the Email tab.
  3. Click the Settingstab.
  4. Check what's listed under the Cluster Name.
